2. Age Requirement — 13+ Only
Pathway is intended for users who are 13 years of age or older.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. We verify user age during account creation. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.

We collect the following categories of information:
Account information: Name, email address, and profile image provided through authentication.
Age verification: Birth month and year, used solely to verify you are 13 or older. We store your birth year only.
Academic profile: Grade level, school name, GPA, class rank, academic credits, SAT/ACT scores (all optional).
Career and interests: Career interests, personal interests, goals, milestones, and academic pathway plans.
Uploaded documents: Academic documents you choose to upload (e.g., transcripts) for GPA extraction.
AI interactions: Inputs and outputs from AI-powered features including goal suggestions, career pathway generation, and career recommendations.
Usage data: Login timestamps and general platform usage patterns.
5. How We Use Your Information

To allow parent or guardian accounts to view your progress (only if you invite them)

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.
6. Data Minimization
We follow data minimization principles. We store your birth year only to confirm age eligibility. All personality assessments and test score fields are optional. Uploaded documents are used only for the purpose you upload them.
7. Third-Party Services
Clerk: Handles account authentication and provides name and email to Pathway.
OpenAI: Powers AI features including goal suggestions, career pathways, and milestone generation.
Neon PostgreSQL: Our database hosting provider where your data is stored.
Brave Search: Used to find real scholarship and opportunity listings based on your career interests.
O*NET / US Department of Labor: Provides career interest profiler data and career information.
8. Data Retention
Your data is retained while your account is active.
If you delete your account, your data is removed from our active systems within 30 days.
Backup systems may retain data for up to 90 days after deletion.
Age verification data (birth year and verification timestamp) is deleted along with your account.
9. Your Rights
Access: Request a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Update incorrect information in your profile at any time.
Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data from within the app (Profile page → Delete My Account) or by submitting a request at student-pathway.com/delete-data.
We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure database hosting, and session-based authentication.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the platform. Continued use of Pathway after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
